Do I retain copyright to my photograph?

Yes. The original copyright owner retains all rights to their image. You grant National Geographic the non-exclusive right to show your image in the photo contest.

How will my image be used?

JLU Masterclicks 2019 will show your image in connection to the photo contest. Your image will not be sold or distributed.

Does it matter what type of camera I use to take a photo?

No. Your submission must be digital, but otherwise, we receive photos taken with many types of cameras, from mobile devices to DSLR cameras. The image is what will be judged, not the camera used.

Will I receive notification that my work has been received?

No, you will not be sent a notice of the receipt regarding your entry.

Can I vote for my own work?

Yes, you can.

Is it possible to receive my award/ certificates if I cannot attend the ceremony?

Yes, you can still receive the award.

• Entrants will not be notified of the receipt of their entries.
• Once submitted, entries will not be returned to entrants under any circumstances, even if they are later withdrawn.
